A Message from Nurse Angela Billingsly
In order to protect the health of the entire Pinewood community, it is imperative that parents remember to speak with their student about signs and symptoms of COVID. These symptoms include:

  • Fever or chills
  • Cough
  • Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
  • Fatigue
  • Muscle or body aches
  • Headache
  • New loss of taste or smell
  • Sore throat
  • Congestion or runny nose
  • Nausea or vomiting
  • Diarrhea

Due to a high transmission rate of COVID-19 in the Charleston area, DHEC requires that any student presenting to the health office with any ONE of the above symptoms be sent home. Before the student returns to school he/she must complete one of the following:

  • Request a note from your child’s pediatrician that gives permission for the child to return to school; or
  • Provide the school with proof of a negative COVID test; or
  • The student may isolate at home for 10 days provided he/she remains symptom free.

If your student has one of these symptoms as part of an ongoing condition please email  Nurse Angela to update our records. This will help prevent the student from having to visit the doctor unnecessarily. Thank you for doing your part to keep the Pinewood community healthy!

Pinewood Conducts its First Fire Drill of the School Year
Pinewood conducted its first fire drill of the year earlier this morning. As mandated per South Carolina law, schools must conduct a fire drill within the first two weeks after the opening day of classes. The system worked well and the students did a great job of following procedures. Pinewood is committed to the safety and security of its community members and will communicate with parents throughout the year on various fire drills, intruder alerts, or other training measures.

Wednesday is Picture Day!
Picture day is Wednesday, August 26. Due to COVID-19 precautions, the photography agency, Tumbleston, is requiring all orders be made online at https://tumbleston.hhimagehost.com/PWP.  There are no flyers and no envelopes this year.
